Dialysis at Hinesville, Georgia

I have been doing hemodialysis at the EG Miles dialysis center in Hinesville, Georgia for six years. They have not improved any during that time. They have gotten worse. One LPN does most of the work, which includes putting up stock, water testing, mixing the acid batch, etc. Most of the others are just plain lazy employees. They ALL push to want to get out of there and go home early. Damn you if you are there past 4 PM. Patients are the last to be considered. Some employees can't stick worth a crap. The charge nurse should not be in charge. She is rarely in her bay, has poor English-speaking and listening skills, is impatient, and doesn't listen to patients. It is her way or the highway. I would have fired her butt a long time ago. Some of the workers spend a lot of time out of their bay and patients are left alone. Many times I have had to yell for someone, anyone, to help me or other patients. I keep going there because it is closer to my house. This place is often shorthanded too. When the one good nurse is out sick or on vacation, this place really falls apart.  If you can prevent it, DO NO DIALYSE AT HINESVILLE DIALYSIS CENTER. Their Davita/Medicare rating as a 4-star dialysis center is a joke!

If the required coverage is not available call CMS (Center for Medicare Medicaid Services) and file a complaint there are staffing levels required and CMS has the clout to enforce the rules.

Sounds familiar to the treatment my poor mother endured in Lincoln, Il at Davita. Scary bad. There was at least one death due to negligence/belligerence when the patient pissed someone off and they stopped treatment without clamping her off and she exanguinated on the porch. We complained, bitched and appealed to patients rights committees to no avail. Another family even contacted their congressman. That's why I'm doing PD; I'm in charge of my schedule/process and I trust myself to do it right.

Definitely put in a complaint, and how is home hemo in your area? Is it an option for you?
