Web site launched to aid kidney donations

The Western New York Kidney Connection has announced the launch of its Web site to help people who need kidney transplants find others willing to donate an organ.

There are more than 400 people in the region on waiting lists to obtain a kidney transplant.

The average wait nationwide is four years for a kidney from a deceased donor, and many patients die or must rely on dialysis during that time. It’s hoped www.wnykidneyconnection.org will help increase the number of kidney transplants in the community by increasing the number of live donors.
