I LOVE Amazon.ca, spinoff of the Amazon.com, but for Canada.  Top reason, is that I can be sure they will ship to Canada and I WILL get it. Tried and True. Repeatedly.

I can get Kumihimo stuff and other little bitty craft things to drag to Dialysis to muddle around with till I normally fall asleep. I will some other time find a smaller laptop to use at dialysis. Probably a win 10 laptop.

I can find some pretty nice things for dialysis time.

I started doing the microtasking on Mechanical Turk - which is Amazon owned - to make a little extra cash. Wouldn't you know it, they allow you to send the stuff you earn RIGHT in to your Amazon account for easy access...

I'm expecting my next delivery on Monday.

Fortunately I have the largest mailbox there is at the end of the driveway.  I often think my mailman hates me, the number of packages he has to stuff in there.


And NO sales tax.   I really like that part, while it lasts.

I don't bother with those ones. I usually grab the academic surveys that get about a buck or two for completing it. I figure I'm watching Netflix anyway... might as well squeeze a little cash out. If you go the transcription route, there are some that pay up to $100.

I had a task that was basically reviewing the setup and content of an online class for teaching Python. Got a few bucks for that AND a free coding lesson.

I can net about $20 a day on that site if I really focus. And, like I said, I'm usually doing this stuff while watching a movie so it's not like it's taking the place of something else - except for maybe Facebook.

I get the tagaderm for my emla cream on Amazon.ca... any time I need something and can't find it here, I go to Amazon.. they ALWAYS have it... phone cases, charge cords (cuz I accidentally set fire to one), accessories for my tablet.. I looked up the battery for my netbook, and decided agasint getting one... but my dad gave me the battery out of his, which was identical to mine... I tend to go to Amazon for music cds.. we don't really have a music store here anymore, except for Walmart.. and if you're looking for something specific, they probably don't have it

Yes, I KNOW I am playing with fire going through Amazon, but I KNOW I can depend on them sending it. My mailgirl is gonna be fed up having to crawl back here with packages soon. I can never wait for the mailgirl to drop by with that something.

We don't have a mail person anymore... we have to walk a block and a half to the community mailbox to get stuff... and if it don't fit in the mailbox, we get a card saying that whatever it was is at the post office, and you need to go there to get it..

I should clarify that.  Wright City is 4 miles East of me.  They have exactly ONE traffic light.  It is red and blinks 24/7.   Warrenton is 4 miles West.  They actually have SIX working intersections.  Kroger's grocery, both service roads that parallel the freeway, both sides of the freeway exchange and one in from of the China House so you can get out easier after eating dinner.

I don't call either of these 'Cities'.   More like very small towns.  But I do not want to live inside even them, to many local 'ordinances'.    I have three acres of yard with 60 odd trees.  I am constantly picking up sticks, dead-fall.  Lots of dead-fall during storms.  Think I am going to stick that in a bag and set it next to a curb?   The closest curb is about 4 miles either direction.   I have a burn pile in a safe area.  It is dying down as we speak, or as I write, as I just burnt a bunch of scrap cardboard, and a whole pile of sticks and leaves.   Cause I can.

And neighbors are far enough away, and mellow enough, they don't bitch when I fire up my Harley OR my big block Chevy.

I LIKE it here.   But I still miss my mountains and the salt water.

It's not a "city" thing.. it's a Canada Post thing... they no longer do home delivery.. period...  I live in a city, but I think it's only called that because it's the largest community in the province.. there might be 30,000 people in this city.. with only 140,000 in the entire province... There is actually a farm in the middle of this city, run by Agriculture Canada... and if you drive less than 10 minutes from city center, you're surrounded by fields..

Some developments here in the US have the community mailboxes.   Some have a few larger locked cubbyholes for packages.  If you get a packages, it's left in one of those large boxes and you get a numbered key in you box.  The key is retained - you  can unlock the box with your package, but cannot remove the key afterwards, thus making it available for the mail carrier to use for the next customer who has a package.

A lot depends on the age of your house here in the US.  People on the other side of my street have their mailboxes on their house by the front door.  Mine is a conventional mailbox at the end of the driveway.

We get regular mail delivery here in Nashville. But, in the town I grew up in way up at the top of Upper Michigan we didn't. We had a PO Box at the Post Office because they didn't do street delivery. And the total population of that little town was probably 500 on a good day. Mail delivery in all the little towns around us too... just not ours. Who knows why...

You don't realize what a nice thing that is until you don't have it.

We no longer have an RR (Rural Route) any longer.  We've graduated to using the actual house number and street names, but our Mailman (MailWOman many days) still all drive their personal vehicles, sitting on the right side using their left hand and left foot.

I think if I tried that I'd crash very quickly.

Since we are near the end of the route Monday's mail is always late.  Like 6 or 7 p.m. late.    Since Gary retired I don't think we have a 'regular' so many days I suspect the first one done with their own route gets awarded ours as well.   We don't expect our mail before 5 ANY day.

Still waiting on parts by mail I order a week ago.  Surprised it isn't here yet.  Just ordered some thing off eBay.  Most of those venders are very quick about shipping.  Our mail people may be slow, but they do get it here once they receive it.  On-line tracking clearly shows time in/out at each major distribution center.
