After my dialysis session today, I noticed my eyes were dilated.  Has anyone experienced this?  I don't remember this happening before.  My blood pressure was extremely high when I started my session.  I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Interesting observation.

What caused you to notice the dilation?   Was this during, or after treatment?    How was your BP during, and at the end of treatment?

Was the room dark.  If it was that will cause the eyes to dilate.

In answer to your questions, I noticed the dilation in my eyes as soon as I ended my treatment.  I was in a well lit room at the time.  My blood pressure was 234/84 at the beginning of the session and 176/86 at the end.  I am not allowed to take my blood pressure pills before a treatment because my blood pressure has suddenly dropped during a couple of sessions so I take it immediately after a session and my blood pressure returns to normal within a few hours.  My blood pressure isn't normally that high at the beginning of a session, but it was on that day.

Hello Cas, what did you mean when you posted how did I get on?

Hi Cas, got to thinking about your comment, I must have been too tired last night to interpret it correctly.  I assume you were wondering why I started dialysis, am I right?  I had my right kidney removed about six and a half years ago because of renal cell carcinoma and as soon as it was removed my creatinine reading increased to chronic kidney disease stage 4 levels.  My creatinine readings before surgery were only slightly elevated.  Seems odd that the kidney with the cancer was filtering better than my remaining kidney.  I started dialysis in January of this year.  I kept putting it off because I never realized how bad I felt.  My creatinine reading was 6.1 and my egfr was 7.  My nephrologist had advised me to start earlier, but I was afraid.  I now realize I should have started earlier.  Dialysis has been rough but I hope it will get better as time goes on.  Thanks for asking.
