Not sure if I posted this in the right section but just wanting to know if anyone has used Turmeric as pain relief? I understand its a medium potassium food but my K is very under control and I don't plan on using a ton of it. If you have how have you used it? I was thinking about as a tea type drink?

Hello brenda,
I have just looked it up in my Encyclopaedia where they mention that Turmeric assists the stomage
and influences the wellbeing of the bile and is not known as a pain relief,
but there again, different people react differently to different herbal medicines...
Good luck wishes from Kristina.

Are you sure you were reading about Turmeric? Everything I have read and researched states how it's good for inflammation. As a pain reliever.

Sorry brenda, that was all I could find in my Encyclopaedia...
... I could not find anything written about Turmeric as an anti-inflammatory or as a pain reliever...
... but perhaps new medical reseach has discovered new results?
Good luck from Kristina.

Yes, Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties.
Also used for arthritis, and infections.
There are upsides and downsides to the use of any single herb.

Primarily I mix the desired herb with a modifying  herb for numerous reasons.
Although I do use single herbs for specific purposes.

Generally I endeavor to match a pain to an herb and work from there.

If you are referring to 'joint pain', as the Topic title states would say yes, turmeric would be of great use, and yes, I/we do use it for joint pain.

I mostly use powder form. While doing the tea thing is highly beneficial I still prefer my cup of coffee.

Not exactly a stranger to herb use:

Side note:
In 2014 there was an interesting test protocol ran, named 'Role of Turmeric in oxidative modulation in end-stage renal disease patients'.

Thanks Talker. Your website is very interesting. I use lots of Essential Oils for everything as I am a EO Therapist but just starting to dabble in herbs. I don't drink caffeine (caffeine free for about 15 years) anyway so have already for-fitted my decaff in the morning for warm fresh lemon water. I really want to use fresh organic Turmeric so I guess I'll surf for a recipe. Thanks again.

You are most welcome.
Been doing the 'fresh lemon water' for the past two weeks.
Am way down on the coffee use, but still  like and enjoy a cup or two a day.
Ha, thought I would just 'dabble in herbs' some 50 or so years ago.
Kinda grew on me at the time, and it purely escalated into a way of life.
Regardless, one just doesn't go 31 years of NOT seeing any doctor, unless they are doing something right.
Do consider the current kidney thing, a minor bump in the road, which is another Talker story, as yet untold.
