So, for about a year I have been supplementing my protein with this Whey Isolate powder from NOW brand. I should probably do it every morning, but I often get lazy or already filled up on breakfast. When I do manage it, I notice significant increase in my energy overall, especially when I've been on spree of making shakes and smoothies. My protein is always in range, if not, slightly above. Low in phosphorus, calcium and very low in potassium, it's organic and chocked full of 25g protein per scoop. It's very friendly for sensitive stomachs (like mine) and the unflavored version is great for adding to virtually anything. Also nice..it is very, very fine so it doesn't have that grainy texture when mixed in liquids. Of course, like nearly everything it does contain a small amount of phosphorus so I pop at least one binder with it.
"Pure Whey Isolate yields more protein with less fat and carbohydrates than concentrates and is considered the highest quality whey protein currently available."
Nutritional values, ingredients, etc. here.
http://www.nowfoods.com/Whey-Protein-Isolate-Unflavored-1-2lb.htmOne of my usual recipes:
Dreamsicle Shake:Unenriched Organic Rice milk (unenriched is important because they actually add phosphorus, magnesium and other minerals to the enriched version)
1 scoop of whey powder
4 oz. Simply Orange Tangerine juice
A handful of ice cubes
Shake vigorously in canister or use blender, vita-mix, etc.
Add a little agave if you prefer it sweeter.
Phosphorus: About 70 mg
Potassium: 355 mg (220 from the OJ)
