Alright, so we all itch or will itch at some point with kidney disease.  I’ve searched the forums and there are many posts concerning itching.  If my blood work is out of whack, we sort it out.  When I do have an itching attack, I slap on a cornstarch paste, look like Casper the Ghost and soothe.

However, there are the times when I do itch, I draw blood and the “sores” weep for awhile before they scab over.  (I’m sorry if this isn’t the prettiest topic.)  I am an extremely slow healer due to the health problems.  One scratch can take 3 to 6 months to heal.  Right now, it looks like my lower legs were attacked by a panther.

I can’t get in to see a dermatologist until November.  I’ve seen flyers at our renal unit saying to avoid Poly or Neosporin.  Have any of you found a good “healing” kidney friendly solution for itching marks?  Not for the itch itself, but to heal the itching souvenirs.  I’ve been told kidney transplant patients are fans of Mederma for transplant scars.  I don’t know if that holds any weight.  Ideas, anyone?

I have scratched my legs until they bled as well Ukrainian.  I don't have a solution to heal the scratch marks, but I did find that wearing a pair of snug fitting yoga pants keeps me from scratching my legs, especially at night while in bed.  I have a $90 pair from under armor that I absolutely love.  It's a bit pricey, but they are well made and I practically live in them.  I hope you find something that works for you!

Where does the itch tend to be the strongest?

Thanks for the suggestions, Ninanna and cassandra!  I'm quite familiar with Under Armor's fabrics but never viewed them as anti-itch!  Learn something new everyday!  ;D  As for the Vit E, that's what my mother has been on my case to try.  Do you see results quickly?  Well, I don't mean "quickly" but in my case, a month or two?

Goofball, the itch tends to be the strongest on my back and anywhere below my knees.  My lower legs look like a minefield.

Again, thanks you guys for finally getting to this post.  I totally forgot!  But, every time I look down at my legs I figure, someone has to know something!  :rofl;

I found the vit E worked quite quick. As in, you'll see improvement within a Month or so.
