I hated taking sodium bicarbonate tabs. *LOL*  but then, I was kid, I hated taking anything.  After my first transplant, I actually had a low phosphorus (those were the days.. *LOL*) and had to take phosphate tabs.  They were like alka seltzer.  You have to dissolve them in a glass of water.  They tasted like watery orange pop..

Hi, l'm a regular of  a light coke drinker. It has been few years back, now l knew why my phosphate always on the high side. I do took black coffee every morning with by breakfast...

I will stop immediately taking of the light coke, but proceed having a nice hot coffee in the morning for a month till next full blood test.

Be warned, some sodas may have sodium phosphate added to them. I know that cherry dr. pepper has this. A lot of cherry flavors I have seen have this added.

Lastly, some root beers do have phosphoric acid in them. Most of these root beers are the true root beers. Even then, I still drink them because I love a good root beer. My favorite is Sioux City Sarsaparilla. Yummy.

Some makers of tonic water do not yet use phosphoric acid in their recipe.

In my neck of the woods I've seen water and potassium citrate as the ingredients.
