ABO Incompatible

I wanted to know if anyone had heard of this topic or indeed had one and what your thoughts where.
I had a kidney from a friend about 8 years ago ABO incompatible - so he is a totally different group to me.
1: they have to give you lots of plasma exchanges to get rid of tita levels in your blood, ( tita fight foreign blood types) This process of hooking you up to a washing machine can leave you bleeding out of everywhere, freezing ( as the bottles of fluid dripping into your blood steam has to come straight out of a fridge)
SO the op went well and created urine before going to recovery room. The issue is my under laying diagnosis is FSGS, So i was told i cannot have a family member kidney, ( as the fsgs would attack and killt kidney) so i tried ABO incompatible. It was 18 months of hell
has anyone tried it?

How long did that transplant last?
It seems that more often now, if you have a incompatible donor they try to put you and the donor in a paired exchange program. I know they do ABOi for people with low antibodies, but others with high antibodies are usually not eligible.
