Is this common at all Dialysis centers?

Doctors come into the centers, do NOT wash their hands, put on gowns, gloves and go from patient to patient.  All nurses and techs must wear this garb, so why don't they?  Doctors don't think they carry germs?  I ask this because they are touching everyone.  Is this common at all centers?

Sounds like most centers. Mine I don't know if he washed his hands when he came in but he did not between patients. He wore a lab coat not what the techs wore. Most doctors forget about this stuff. Most of the time mine was just talking to me not touching me so I didn't worry about it.

At my transplant hospital they are making a real effort to change this so that you see the docs wash their hands. Some are taking longer than others for it to come naturally. You see their face change as they remember right as they put a hand to shake. Then they quick pull their hand back and go wash.

If your doc has to examine you and you're uncomfortable just speak up. Most will respect your request.

The doctors in my centre will wash their hands before and after touching a patient, but if they're just talking, they won't bother.  The 2 that come to my centre are pretty good at putting on the gowns before going into the "private rooms" though

Mine washes his hands when he comes in but only changes gloves between patients.  He doesn't want to touch us either..... believe me.

When I was in center, my doctor bearly touch me. He would only talk to me. However I do remember him washing his hands. Speak up because this is your life. If he doesn't wash his hands at least he will do it for you.

The doctors at my center wash their hands when they come in, and sometimes between patients. They use the mobile computers to enter information between patients, and always use hand sanitizer before and after using the computer. So they may not wash their hands every time, but they use hand sanitizer at least twice between patients.
