give it a go.  you can always stop at any time if you choose.  I suspect that you maymbe in a grief process and this is part of the bargaining phase.  I urge you to try to work through this. Maybe look into getting some professional counselling, specifically grief counselling, may help in this process.

Henry P, thanks for correcting me re PD from your experiences.

Yes it's important to not gain too much fluid wither way for affect on the cardio system, lungs etc from fluid build up and pressure so even with nightly haemo or PD still need to watch that.

I totally agree with your other points :)

Really dont have any helpful information for you, but since you and I are at about the same station in life, I wanted to talk with you about it. I am 74 years old and have had a GFR of 29 in 2007 and it is now23. It goes up and down by two or three points, but, all in all, 6 points down in nearly 6 years, not bad at all. I figure if it gets to dialysis time for me, I could be 80 years old. Do I want to do dialysis when i am 80???? I dont really think so. Do I want to do it if I have to start tomorrow? Probably. I am not depressed, God knows I take enough anti-depressants, but I sure can see where it would be so much easier not to start. From what I have read, Hospice can do a good job of keeping you comfortable if you want to do that. At any rate, its your life, your body and your decision. Like everyone else tho, I wish you would at least give it a try. ( doesnt that sound funny coming from me????)
