Hi guys, I normally post questions that I think that are far out there, and then get a myriad of responses from others who wondered just like me. With that in mind, I'm gonna start with another one.

I've been reading pretty heavily about renal vein or artery stenosis, and think that this could be the cause of my grandmothers renal failure. She meets the etiology as written on Web M.D., and a few other scholarly articles that I have read.

Has anyone on here had experience with this condition, had it worked up, and/or received treatment for this?If the stenosis does exist, the options are of course revascularization, medication, or doing nothing. My hope is that revascularization or somehow removing the stenosis could restore function at least partially to her kidneys. Anyone with experience or input would be highly valued

thanks guys

I don't have experience. May I ask how old your grandmother is? As I understand it, as we get older all our veins and arteries begin to sclerose. This happens sooner in some people than others. Does she have other problems such as heart disease? It may not be possible to reverse her decline. I'm sure you love her very much. But have you discussed with her what she wants? How much intervention is she interested in? Does she have paperwork such as a will, living will, and power of attorney?

Are you sure this is the only cause of her renal failure? I would ask her if you can come along on an appt and ask the doctor questions or have her sign the HIPPA form and you can set up an appt to talk to the doc on the phone.
