When will I qualify for disability with my renal failure. I'm currently stage 4, GFR 24. Do I have to wait till I'm on dialysis or can it be started before then?

You can apply any time you want for disability benefits. They may or may not approve them depending on what your doctors write and what's in your medical records. There is no gurantee. When you're on dialysis almost everyone gets approved.

You will not qualify for Medicare until you start dialysis unless you are already over 65.

Are you still working?  is the first question.  It had better be no or you are denyed right now.  You have to have quit your job due to medical reasons.  Then apply and then it is a six month waiting period.  Sucks hua?
