Had my monthly lab clinic appointment today. Got the results of my September labs. Phosphorus was a bit high, not sure why. I take my pills when I'm supposed to, with everything I eat. Everything was fine. The doctor said my HDL(good cholesterol) was low. He said something about doing stationary bike, but I really don't have one and I don't have room in my apartment. Has anyone else been told this? If so, how did you raise the level?
Kayholio,
I'm gonna conclude that you are in-center 3x per week dialysis?
When you only dialyze 3x per week, this is not nearly enouph dialysis to clear your body of phosphorus. You are only cleaning what is currently in the bloodstream. So its not going to matter how many binders you take, there is going to be a net gain in phosphorus as you are dialyzing 3x per week and have 4 days that you are gaining phosphorus buildup. Over time this can affect yoru bones, vascular system and heart.
Are you a candidate for home dialysis? Has your nephrologist ever informed you about the choice of home dialysis?
