Letting everyone know this afternoon I had some surgery done. The doc that I saw tried to get my fistula to work. She inserted a balloon in it.She was hoping to do away with any blood clot.I now have another location. Not sure if you would called near the neck area(on the right side.BOY will the staff at dialysis be surprise. At least they don't have to worry about having troubles inserting the needle. All they have to do is connect me to the machine,I was told to take it EASY for the next few days. The staff (out patient center) St.Peters hospital in Olympia,Wash.were very nice to me. :)The air cobditioer was turn on to keep things COOL/It's going to take some time getting use to the new one.I was told wear loose tops.Along with button up shirts. Now I can FINALLY get something to eat.

You've got a cath, then, and not a fixed fistula? Are they going to try another location for a fistula?

The doc that I saw on Friday afternoon want to give my present fistula few monthsto heal it self. The doc wanted to know WHY wasn't I sent to have this repair when the techs started having problems with it long ago.It would have been alot easier for the doc to have repair it.Does anyone have any HELPFUL suggestions on how I can keep the area of my catheter clean?Any HELPFUL suggestions would be nice.Since I'm going to have this catheter for few months. Is there a limit of what I can & Can NOT DO.

I don't understand. Do you have a Neck line or a Chest line in?

Well, my neck line was put in an emergency for me to begin dialysis when my kidneys failed. Mine was cared for in the hospital by staff and I couldn't begin to tell you what to do or not do with it. All I know was that I couldn't get it wet. Above and beyond that, I don't know what to tell you. I had mine for such a short time, about three days before my chest line was put in. I must say I much rather prefered the chest line than the neck line. That thing was beyond uncomfortable and I never had comfortable dialysis sessions with the neck line cuz they had me laying down on a bed for my first week of dialysis or so.
