Rowen's newsletter cites a study that states Detoxamin boosts urinary excretion of metals by a whopping 7,800%  Has anyone on dialysis tried this supplement?  I suspect it might be harmful to people with kidney damage, but this makes me curious.

A link?  His background?  The logic for increasing the rate the body gets rid of metals?  What is that supposed to help?  I've never heard anything about the body removing metals, except for the discussions of aluminum in deodorant possibly being harmful to D patients because it can hurt the kidneys. 

Hard to imagine anything that would do that without increasing the rate the body got rid of important minerals as well.

Dr. Robert Rowen, MD,  has a big-time nutrition newsletter and supplement business.  He publishes "Second Opinion" The Independent thinker's guide to health and wellness.

Ah, yes, the joys of a google search. 

He practices chelation therapy, which has no proven medical benefit for treating diseases from what I've found online.  Works great for things like kids with lead poisoning and anyone with arsenic exposure, but not much else.  They are continuing to do studies related to its use to treat everything from heart disease to autism, but have found nothing.

His name also shows up under links to "Quackwatch" and an investigative story by 60 Minutes.
