What's dialysis?

« on: September 05, 2006, 11:01:28 AM »

The first symptoms of my kidney failure although I didn`t know it at the time was torn ligaments in my feet.  It makes my feet VERY sore when I walk.  This all started last Xmas and they still aren`t any better now.  The Docs have all said that my ligaments will heal as my haemoglobin level comes up.  Well, 2 months ago my haemoglobin was at 30 and now it`s at 83.  I don`t understand why my ligaments haven`t got any better.  It`s affecting the range of jobs I can apply for at work (supermarket) cos I can`t be on my feet all day.  If I walk around for a couple of hours and then sit down, my ligaments curl up so that when I stand up again, I`m making my ligaments stretch out and this is VERY VERY painful.  Anyone got any ideas how to combat this???

That sounds horrible, I'm sorry.   :(  Maybe doing foot exercises while you are sitting?

I tore the ligament in my finger one time, my son threw a ball at me and it hit the finger just in the right angle and it snaped the ligament. One doctor told me it would need surgery and it's a very complicated surgery and you may lose feelings in that finger. So on the way out of the doctors office a NURSE said just put your finger in a splint, use 2 popsicle sticks and tape it up and leave it like that for a week. SO I did that and my finger was all better, the ligament healed itself.

My point of the story is maybe you need to not use your legs for a couple of weeks to the ligaments a chance to heal. Yes I know easier said than done. But just thought I would add my story.  :)
