i had a issue just resently with my fistula arm
where it had been thinning, but it didnt seem to be a problem
a few months ago, i had a infection where we got the puss out
and left it alone after that.. just within the last week or so.
it seem to get bigger and u could see the darkness of blood  so i just put a bandaid on it
well march 2, i was  home and changing the dressing on my leg for i have a boil on there
and all of sudden my arm i would more say exploded..
i grabed a sheet, ace wrap and 3 more towels, called my mom
and she rushed me to the hospitol, they ended up puting a stich in my arm, and they rushed me by ambulance to ohsu in portland... they got me into sugery and they added in more stiches and  i ended up staying there untill this afternoon,, (monday)  they ended up  catrizing( by using real silver to help with a extra bleeding and it worked great) the pain isent great other wise

my mom thinks that i need to stay at her house a month ( heck no) i say a week or 2 and the doc thought that was ok... but im going to see if i can get a home health nurse to come in to help out
what do you think is best

Holy cow!! how frightning...  and my opnion  ;D  well, i say stay that "if" you want to stay with moms, i'd *plan* a week and then take it from there. If neither of you are used to liveing in the same household, well, that can be super fun, or not..hehe  I would make sure though that that wouldnt cancel out a home health nurse if you think your going to need one...

OMG, what an awful thing to have happened to you!

I would advise, if you get along with your Mom good,  stay with her. If you don't,  get home care.

Oh My Lord, Babycake!  How on earth did this happen? I have never heard of such a thing with a fistula exploding!  Did they give you antibiotics to take?  Have they said what caused this? Will you still be able to use fistula once it heals?
Are you okay now?

I know, Im full of questions, but this is just so awful to hear.  Im curious as to what happen, as my J. has a fistula and would love to avoid such a thing from happening to him.

Take care dear, and let us know how it is going.
God Bless,

yes i can still use my arm. but not in the area where they did the surgery
as for my button hole
they want to wait untill the area heals, even though the button hole didnt have a problem

the fistula not itsself exploed
i had a infection in this one area where we drained some puss
so left it alone, and within the last week or so. i noticed darkness color like blood, and it seem to get bigger
i had ask the tech, but she didnt know what was going on
and no they didnt give me anitibiotics but they gave me more blood (of course)
any how i was trying to change the dressing on my leg when blood poured out..
it looked like  another ax murder of helter skelter (not poured out.. but exploded)

what i dont understand is why didnt they have a dang kidney doc on call... that was stupid
but it was good that they transfered me to the main kidney hospitol  for they knew what was going on
