I know this  has got to be here somewhere  but I havent found this question yet  .  Do you or should you exercise  (squeeze ball alot) your arm that your access is to be put in before it is in place.  Will it be harder for surgeon  to place it if you are exercising to get it stronger.   And where do you get the right kind of ball or is any ball ok to use .  Hope I made since to you.  Thanks

Not necessary to exercise BEFORE the fistula.  Definitely do so AFTER.  The surgeon should give you a squeeze ball.  If not, (though he REALLY should), get one from the Nephrologist.  YEA FISTULAS!!!! :bandance;

There was a small study (5 patients) that recommended exercising the fistula arm three months before the surgery.
