The last 2 times I have bleed after holding my site for 15 minutes after the needles were removed. what can I do to stop this situation ?

Maybe they need to adjust your Heparin.  When I first started HD with my fistula, I was using 10,000 units of Heparin, and was still leaving massive clots in the dialyzer.  Few weeks later, I was still bleeding 20-25 minutes after the needles were pulled out.  They ended up reducing my Heparin down to 2,000 units.

4/2010--First fistula attempt--clotted up and failed
6/2010--Second fistula attempt--didn't clot, but slow development
11/2010--3rd fistula surgery--fistula now developing
1/2011--fistula ready for H/D!
6/2011--Started using NxStage at home
8/2012--Switched to PD using Liberty Cycler

If that doesn't work then you might have possible narrowing in the fistula which you will need to have a fistulagram to have it looked at.

May 13, 2009, went to urgent care with shortness of breath
May 19, 2009, went to doctor for severe nausea
May 20, 2009, admited to hospital for kidney failure
May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access

If that doesn't work then you might have possible narrowing in the fistula which you will need to have a fistulagram to have it looked at.

my heparin was reduced today, no bleeding :2thumbsup; I wlill get a fistulagram soon. thanks
