I'm getting a graft tomorrow morning to replace my clotted fistula.Does anyone know how long til I can use it? Or will they pull my catheter out right there?Thanx for any help.

Now Im not familiar as others in regards to the graph, but when husband was getting his fistula ready to use, they kept his perm. cath. in his neck till they were sure fistula was ready to use.  I would think it would be the same way for a graph!  But others will know for sure!

I have a graft. It's 2 to 4 weeks, mine was ready in about 4, a graft doesn't need to mature but does need to heal so you will still have to have your catheter until then.

May 13, 2009, went to urgent care with shortness of breath
May 19, 2009, went to doctor for severe nausea
May 20, 2009, admited to hospital for kidney failure
May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access
