When I was in the hospital the other day, one of my lab values, in fact one that is never been mentioned by our dietition was hi, my magnizium, anyone know what could cause this and why is it never checked or talked about on dialysis?

Mine is low and after transplant it is even lower.   I take 600mg 3times a day to bring it up.  Still low, but a higher dose gives me not so good side effects.   I assume the foods we eat are what makes the minerals higher or lower, but I don't really know.   I had them explain what the effects of too low were, but forgot to ask why it is low.  I'm sure they would say "Cellcept or porgraf" -- that seems to be the standard answer for most side effects.  lol

I hope you get some answers and then share it with us.      :2thumbsup;

I do know that they have to specifically check it on the lab request. It isn't in the standard group of everyday labs.  At least that is how mine works.
