What's past is prologue

« on: June 22, 2011, 04:52:43 PM »

Hi,

This is the third browser I am trying in an attempt to get all the lovely little smileys back. For some reason, I am not getting them at all in Firefox, Safari or Explorer.

Is anyone else having this problem? The code will go onto the page, but when I preview it, it is still just in HTML.

Behold: :sos;

Can anyone help?

OK, I see it will convert them to icons after I post, so I guess the problem is that they are not appearing in the previews.

Is that fixable, or do I just need to live with it?  :thx;

Only after posting.   Just a reminder to all: when you add a smiley, make sure there is a space before it and after it.  If there is no space, it will show as letters, not a smiley.    Thanks

Cariad,  let us know if they aren't working on the posts.  Thank you.   :2thumbsup;

Really? That's weird. For two years I always saw them in the preview, and now it stays in code. Oh, well. I can adapt!

As for me, can't complain, I s'pose.  :waving; Oh, wait, yes I can. We are stuck under a rain cloud here and it is wearing me down. Where's my summer sun?

I see all the icons before I use them. Does anyone else have a problem with only being in code?

I don't get icons - as I'm typing this, I've got a little row of "bandances" two lines above.

  Yep ----Just words on original post before posting.  Then the icon fairies turn mine into smileys when it is posted.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing-----I am referring to the message when you insert icons.   I can see all of them above the message box as actual smileys. Otherwise, I wouldn't use them because I wouldn't beable to figure them out!!

Yeah, let me clarify. I am talking about when I click on a smiley picture above to insert it in the text - when I am writing it, I see it as code. When I click preview (which I usually do, just to make sure any smileys or quotations look right) it is now *still* in code, not in picture form. This is different from how it has been for the past two years, which is odd because I did not change anything, but not a major problem by any measure.

Thanks for looking into it, everyone.

When I click on a smiley like this  :2thumbsup; I get the code, until I post. And just like you, I hit preview and I get the code, not the smiley image - which is NOT how it is supposed to work.
 :waiting; Any ideas Sluffy?
