I didnt start d until i was around six percent in Nov of 2007 we tried pd I couldnt do it I ended up in the hospital with plural effusion tried again and started having breathing problems again so we stopped, I didnt start hemo until July 2008, dotor knew I was ready but I waited and went on hemo when I was ready. I have an upper arm fistula and also had it raised. I do home hemo and my hubby puts my needles in.
Incenter hemodialysis seems scary at first, we all know we have been there. My doctor and nurse was there with me they did a short treatment and didnt pull any fliud they wanted me to see how it was first treatment, it wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be, I always heard stories about it from my father and my brotherr from when they were on it. Every person is different.

I notice nobody so far has mentioned shortage of breath which is an indication your heart is labouring under a fluid overload. Another point is that thinking that passing urine is a good sign, that's just not so. You still pass urine on dialysis and might do so for some time. I am also of the belief that it is better for your doctor to decide rather than yourself, i know That I was so resistant to dialysis I would have put up with anything rather than go on it.
But that's me, I'm often too stubborn a fool to admit that I might be wrong.
