$$$$ back for private insurance premiums (U.S.A.)?

OK. My private insurance is through my husband's company. We pay about 300 dollars a month more to have me on his plan, rather than just himself. I heard that we can get reimbursed for this 300 dollar a month difference. Does anyone here in the US know anything about this? My social worker at the clinic said to give him copies of my husband's check stubs which show the premium paid. We also had to provide a copy of my husband's company's insurance program so the social worker could verify how much we pay for me to be on his plan. We have not received any reimbursement yet. I don't know where this money would come from. Does anyone get this or can anyone explain it to me? It sounds too good to be true.....

As far as I know, (I am not an expert), you can claim that money on your taxes as healthcare expenses as long as he is paying with after tax money. Then if your income and deductions come to the right percentages, you may get some money back. But if his work takes that money pre-tax like a lot of places you can't do anything at all to get any money back on premiums.

The American Kidney Fund (I think) will sometimes cover insurance premiums for kidney patients in financial difficulty. It's more like a charity thing than a government program.

The AKF helped me with insurance premiums. We had to have my husband's employer submit a letter stating which portion of the premium was mine. The AKF will look it over, if approved, you will get a check for 3 months worth of premiums. My social worker at the dialysis clinic did all the paperwork.
Hope this helps.
