I saw an article written by IHD's own Karol Franks and posted by Renal Support Network.  I thought it was something that ought to be on the DialysisEthics website too, so I added it:

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

Glad you two approve!  It was sobering though to read about a donor who didn't make it:

It is little comfort to that mother, but the article mentioned the odds of dying from donating a kidney are 3 in 10,000.  To get that in perspective, the lifetime odds of dying in a motor vehicle accident are 1 in 85!  http://www.nsc.org/news_resources/Documents/nscInjuryFacts2011_037.pdf

But that article did hit home that donating isn't risk-free.  However, if a person is worried about risk they might consider giving up driving first.
