I am new to dialysis, this will be my third week of in-center hemo.  I have a catheter now and just had my vein mapping this week for a possible fistula.

I'm trying to work while I'm at the center but found yesterday that sitting up caused too much "beeping" and they had to lay me down flat.  I am NOT happy about this.  I don't want to be reduced to watching TV or listening to music while I'm on the machine - I want to be productive either working (I can do all my job-related functions via the Internet and my laptop), knitting, reading etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the "beeping" so I can continue to stay upright during treatment?

Do they tape the lines to your clothes once you are connected ?  Ours are taped , so they dont hang down and it takes the weight of the lines on it. Sometimes you have to play around with the positioning of the tape but no one ever has to lie down !

That's a good suggestion!  Thanks!   :2thumbsup;

They only clamp the line to my left shoulder but the lines between the right and left shoulder are just dangling.  I'll suggest the tape if we have beeping problems again next time.
