Been gone awhile... NEWS!

So, I haven't really been on here in a while, I think shortly after they replaced my right hip (again) to clear up the staph was the last time. But Ive been adjusting to dialysis and life, doing pt for my leg, and recently looking back into getting a job, getting back to school, that sort of thing, you know... Living. So imagine my suprise when I got "THE CALL" at 6:40am on Tues the 27th.... Yeah, yeah go up to hosp, do labs, wait wait wait. I was backup/second until about noon that day, when I suddenly became first in line for a certified pre-owned kidney. Still not thinking much of it or getting too excited, it was my first call and I was being highly realistic about the whole thing, I still did as they asked, went up to UW, got admitted, dialyzed up there (I HATE dialyzing in the hosp. ugh. all my routines changed and messed up). So my mom and I waited around for literally HOURS. (Got there at 2 or so pm...) Didn't hear much beyond "Its in transit, expected at about 11pm." then "After it gets here, there is the tissue matching which takes a while" apparently 'a while' means 5-6 HOURS. Anyway to make a long story slightly shorter, at 6am on 7/28 I got prepped and taken to the OR for Transplant. HOLY COW! I actually got a kidney, first list call, first shot out, everything, and I actually got it. Surgery was long, I didn't hit recovery till like 5pm. The kidney was on ice for about 28 hrs, plus the long surg, and my own biological complications I.e. bladder from hell, well things have been slow to waking up. I didn't really get exciting till Friday 8/6 when I went in for labs and they told me I could go home without a dialysis treatment. YAY! Holy monkeys the kidney is waking up! I name it Hemi, and we are doing well! I'm still all attached to things, I hate catheters with a fiery passion and this jp is driving me nuts. but things are good. Man did I forget the horribly mood side effects though! 10 days out and Ive already had an emotional breakdown. scared my nephew, poor Lil guy. lol
Anyway, after 2 and a half years of dialysis, 2 years without peeing, I got a kidney and am peeing again, in a bag yeah, but still. PEEING!
Kinda had to share. lol.
HI GUYS!

AWESOME!! Love hearing about transplants. When I was a kid in hospital, a transplant caused the mood in the place to go electric.. like Christmas morning. I still feel it when I hear of transplants from people I know, and also when I read about them on here.
