I have been having pain in my legs for awhile now. I called my NP, and made the decision to go ahead with the PTH surgery. I know I need it, and unfortunately doubt I will be getting a kidney anytime soon. I go for the initial appt on August 9th, and I HOPE this surgeon isn't some jerk and knows what he's doing. I will have to miss a week of classes, which sucks but I cannot wait much longer, I am in a lot of pain lately and it is affecting my sleeping, etc. I know I am making the best choice for me right now, and will be glad to have this behind me!

I'm glad you've made your decision and are sticking to it.  Anything that contributes to poor sleep has to be conquered because not enough good sleep is extremely damaging to you physically and psychologically.  I went through a period several years ago when all of a sudden, I could not sleep.  I went a week without good sleep, and I was certifiable.

Best of luck, Karen.

I know from my own experience how nasty the symptoms of high PTH can be (similar to yours)--and how important it is to get that PTH number under control.

So you're right to do whatever is necessary to accomplish that.

Let us know how it goes for you.
