Hello,
I just had my second fistula placed due to the first one not ever working.  My veins are small and deep so they will evenutally have to move the vein up.

I had my surgery last Monday and for the first 2 days I was taking my pain pills every 6 hours.  By the 3rd day I didn't need them anymore until about day 7 and now I have a lot of sharp pain and burning.  They did use staples and I'm not sure if that is half my problem.  I was given an appointment 14 weeks to have staples out, but I called and demanded that they come out on day 10.  I am not a complainer, but my arm is killing me and it doesn't seem to be the norm.  I can't even straighten it out.  No, I don't have any signs of infection.

Your pain may be neurological in nature.  I experienced pain and these weird lightning-type sensations for about 2 months after surgery.  I went back to the surgeon a couple of times, and he assured me that all was well and that it could take up to six months for the injured nerves to calm down.  I still feel the occasional jolt 3 months post-op.  Could you be experiencing the same type thing, perhaps?

Hi,
Thank you for the kind reply.  Not sure what I'm feeling all I know is that it feels like my vein is angry.
Here is a picture of my pain.  lol

Nice, just what i needed to see as i have it coming soon from elbow to armpit!  Much as i dont like stitches ..they look to do a better job. I have never had staples before , but will be this time . Hope your pain soon subsides but it is early days really and its not healed yet.

Yeah, sorry to have grossed you out.  lol

I had my staples removed yesterday and that seems to be the source of most of my pain.   They are going to let me wait 3-4 weeks to have the elbow to wrist surgery.  To give me a break, they say.   :)
I will be asking for stiches and not staples this time.  I must be a wimp because those staples hurt like mad coming out.
