Dad has been on Hemo for over a year now. He is 73. We seem to have our good weeks and our bad ones. I have been reading a lot on his site about problems people on hemo can get with their heart. I'm just wondering should we consult with a cardiologist? Maybe just check to see if everything is working OK? I don't think he has any issues. It cant hurt right?

They should listen to his heart and lungs before every session.  If they say he sounds good then he is probably doing well.

You should have an EKG done every six months just in case you want to travel.  So you could start there for a history marker.

I started feeling my heart skipping beats so that is when I got a cardiologist.  Ended up being premature heart beat and I was put on a pill.  (go figure)   :P

They do take a listen every session. He suffers from a right side pleural effusion. About every six months we have to go have it tapped and drained.

I'm not sure when they did a EKG last on him. But I like your suggestion. I just want to take the best possible care of him and hopefully ward of any problems before they become big serious ones!
