Will you all hate me if I mention the other day one of my sweet nurses gave me a spinich/cheese thingy she made herself (just a little bit, mind the PO4!) while I was hooked up? And another made this noodle dish with prawns and chicken in it (divine!!) and gave it to me to take home??? And another makes me biryani from time to time ....  I have some of the best nurses I swear... :yahoo;

... oh and then there's the guy(nurse) who told me to go to the pub and have a vodka and a red bull one day when the machine wasn't quite ready. he cracked up when I actually DID!!!  :rofl; (you shoulda seen my BP tho!! )

We have one guy who brings in a largeish sub to have mid way through his treatment... a few of us joke each time that its getting bigger and bigger each time soon the PSA (aide) won't be able to carry it!  :rofl;

Richard, honestly i reckon we must be really lucky when it comes to rules and nurses. Our nurses at both the satelite at blacktown and the renal unit in westmead are all fantastic. I honestly cannot complain about any of them, new and old!

Just another hamster on the dialysis W.O.F.

  When I came to dialysis today we were handed a flyer annoucing that the vending machines in the waiting room would be removed by January 1st.  It was recomended we bring "a snack" if we felt we needed something. Something must of us  do anyway. I have always been amazed that the vending machines were here anyway. One is a soda machine, which sells coke products, and the other is a candy machine. Checking them out of curiousity I found the coke machine did not offer root beer or a lemon lime type soda. Just various forms of coke a cola. The candy machines products contained not only chocolate but sevel with penuts. Not very good for the renal diet. Yet I bet the reason for the removal has moore to do with a problem with the vendor than because the proucts are bad for the patients. Possibly sales were too low for the vendor to keep them here, or a disagreement over the service contract. They were also here for the people who bring friends or relatives to the center.

re vending machines YES!! Right outside the door to our unit is exactly that - a chocolate/potato chip machine next to a pepsi machine (makes me SO thirsty to see it!) and I keep thinking what bloody rocket scientist decided the placement there would be a smart move? Even better is a newish rule they put in about 6 months ago to force all of us waiting to wait outside the door on benches.. yes that's right... RIGHT NEXT TO THE VENDING MACHINES!!! I mean WTF??? Yes, it is on a semi-main hospital corridor, so lots of the staff walk past and yes, buy stuff from the machines, but gee they could move them down the hall or something. Just seems insensitive in a way.

The other day I was only 1 kilo over and I was so tempted to buy a mountain dew or something from the machine to drink, but I thought better of it given the other people around me waiting.. that just seemed insensitive to do that in front of them, so I resisted the urge and had a extra fantastic session because I had hardly anything to take off.

  Every time I chew gum, seems like I have to see a dentist, loosens my caps.
