It seems like every topic I go to is "logged" I understand that this needs to happen. I wonder what the criteria is, that controls this. Is it done periodically?, or is it just when the moderator gets an urge and just "logs" the topics?

WTF are you talking about? ? ???   You have brought up "logged" before.  No where on mine does it say they are "logged". I think its your computer.

Posts appear in the order from top to bottom in order of last replies to them.

James,
I am confused, too. I visit IHD nearly every day and have rarely come across a "locked" thread. And I really don't know what you mean by logged.

It sounds like you may have a glitchy setting in your profile.

Can you still "reply" to the post"

Just to let you know every single post that I view has the word "logged" at the bottom right but it does not mean that  it is "blocked" I can still reply to it.

When a post is blocked  the words : blocked by moderator (or something like that) will appear at the bottom and you will not be allowed to post/ reply to it. I have been on IHD for a while and I have only seen 2 threads  actually "blocked."

Hope this helps.

Yes, if you left click on the word logged this comes up:

Good grief. Why this again???

It's NOTHING to worry about or be upset about in my view. They keep a log of the IP addresses of postings. There are a number of reasons to do this, one main one is to help track down potential frauds and the like. It's a technical thing and nothing to get your knickers in a knot about. Honestly.

Why is this such a concern?

I am not concerned at all.  I was just showing that is all it says.  It does not close or block the thread.

Richard is correct. Every post on the forum, every day, all day, gets marked "logged" in the lower right corner (see image below) which is where it records the IP address of the member posting. All forums do this. It's part of the software and not something to be concerned about.  We don't use the info except when it is necessary to block a spammer.

Yes- logged just means te post is logged.  Locked is when it is stopped - and that doesn't happen very often.
Having said that, can anyone help me find the post Darth posted yesterday about Dan's avatar?  It came up this morning on my list of unread topics just like normal, and I think Epofriend (??) had shifted it for some reason, but now I can't find it anywhere.  Even if I search under Darth's posts it's not there.  What am I doing wrong?  It was called Thanks Dan or something like that - not too sure.

Hanify, I saw the post this morning. Now I only see it in Dan's profile. "for my friend---"   I will check and get back to you.

Hurlock, if you can let someone on the admin team know exactly what the problem is, we can help.  There are no "locked" threads right now. Are you able to read any of the threads?  We are confused.

I checked the moderation log. It appears the post may have been erased during modifying - it's rare to happen but I am still checking to see if it is retrievable.

My screen also has logged on the lower right hand side. It has never been a concern to me, but I have noticed that when I post and then a few days later read the post, it always has a little piece of paper and pencil logo on the right side too. Any ideas?

Well, yesterday, I came to IHD and there was a little thing that said "Logged" and instead of saying "quote" in the little blue icon, it said "print" It can't be my machine. Computers don't work that way. I don't think that I'm crazy. . . or I don't think that I'm crazier than usual. Maybe my machine is crazy. . . Machines don't get crazy. I'm sure that some people think that machines and the internet is magic, but when I come and see the posts logged and the quote icon saying "print" and then I complain about it and then the next day come back and find that every thing is back to normal, it makes me wonder. I don't think that my computer is somehow being "selected" to making me complain about something that just isn't reality.
