OK, people who read my posts will know that Alan had a new catheter fitted about a month ago. two weeks to heal and away we go.
NO
it was not working, xray shown that it was placed too high so they tried to get it working by giving it a syringe, out came alot of gunk from the surgery. It started working but very slowly, took about 45minutes which is a lot longer than normal. This morning when he drained out,
NOTHING.
He stood, sat wiggled and eventually it started to drain, very very slowly. The nurse was scheduled to come to see us this morning which was good. She had a feel around his tube because I said I could feel how hard it was. What do you know, she said that they knew it was high and may be it was also twisted, they were hoping it would drop
Now we are waiting again till she reports back to the unit to see what can be done, and its Friday, weekend again.
Thanks for listening to me moan. While I'm at it I ordered a new three piece 12 weeks ago, should have received it with in 8 weeks, still not here, we are still sitting on garden furniture. We are told it is coming from Germany and with the bad weather, high winds, tornado's lots of shi* flying about, the ship is late delivering, I will be glad when this year is over.

How terribly frustrating billybags ... I just couldn't bear having to watch 'Enders whilst sitting on garden furniture ...
As for Alan. Yikes! Blokey has been having major problems for the last four or five weeks so I can understand how you feel. He has his PD catheter fitted today (*fingers crossed*) and we are hoping that it works better than the hemo ... I won't tell him about Alan's experiences!
I hope everything gets sorted soon. And that your 3 piece suite arrives safely too.
*hugs*

Yup, I know that feeling. When they put in my second PD catheter, the only way I could drain was to stand up, jump up and down, and hold my hands over my head! Not the way I usually sleep. So the doc did "revision" surgery, and now it works fine. It's my understanding that the word "revision" is a medical term meaning, "I screwed up in the first place."

My neph told me the surgeon may have to put my 2nd PD cath in laparascopically because the peritonitis I had could cause adhesions, in other words the peritoneum might be stuck together in parts, and instead of 1 contiguous cavity, I might have several smaller 'pockets'. This is getting scarier all the time! Hope your hubby's cath works better soon BillyBags.

Sorry to hear what Alan is having to go through but sometimes the catheter does settle in the correct position after a short while. I had problems with mine initially but it did settle down soon after. But even so I always had to have the machine on tidal because I couldn't drain out the last 250mls in a lying down position. In the morning I always had to do a stand up manual drain to get rid of this last bit. Hope things improve for you both.

Paris I really hope you are right. I had a lovely day yesterday, went Christmas shopping with my daughter, she also had a stressful week and since July her life has turned upside down, we both said we will be happy when the new year is in.
