I was wondering when your clinic gives you the EPO and iron during your dialysis.....  Most days I have noticed that they give it to me with in a hour of when I start.... and some days it closer to when I am almost ready to get off..... I was wondering if  the EPO and Iron is being taken out by the filter....    they are giving me EPO and Iron at every session.....  Does it make a difference when it is given.....??

I notice that mine meds are not always in the same time frame either...it depends on when the nurse is done with assessments and such, sometimes I get meds right away and sometimes not for 2 hours.  I'm not sure if it matters but I would think that they wouldn't differ in time if it were an issue?

EPO and IRON don't matter as far as time.  Some meds do.  Antibiotics for example, are best given in the last hour, or at the end of the treatment.  Depending on the IRON, and if it is a new drug for you, it is sometimes given early, that way if there is a reaction they can watch for it.  If you have had it before without a problem, it is fine anytime.

Your blood pressure is ALWAYS considered when giving epo and iron and that may be why the time varies. Im always given mine towards the end of dialysis when my bp has come down.
