Life is great!

« on: December 11, 2006, 12:54:32 PM »

Hi everyone,

I had my graft inserted about ten days ago and I am back in hospital because after day eight my arm went black and blue from my fngertips up to my shoulder and was so swollen it felt like it was going to burst.  On top of that I have a gout attack in the wrist, elbow, fingers and knuckles of the graft hand.  The docs don't seem to know what has caused the "radical bruising" - not to mention the pain. They say the graft is working OK and they were going to open it up and take another look but have decided against that.  I have probably used that arm more than I should have over the past week but I did try and elevate it every opportunity I had.  I am on antibiotics in case it is an infection but I thought after 10 days it should be healing much better than it is.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

That sucks Lucinda! I hope you are feeling better.  I cleaned up all the foul language I wanted to use here in this post. (LOL)  I hate for this to happen to you so soon.   I wish you well.

Hang in there, Lucinda, it has to get better soon!  Hope each day finds you less swollen and bruised and the pain lessened.

HI Everyone,

I am much better today - the bruising has gone down, they have let me home but the swelling is still pretty bad.  I will now catch up with everything I have missed.  Thanks for the concern.  Cheers, Lucinda.

I am glad you are better.  I too have a graft.  So far, everything has been going pretty okay.  Just one part of it seems a bit swollen.  I will see what they say next time I go to dialysis (tomorrow, in fact).

HI Everyone,

Thanks for all the concern.  I am much better now....still a bit sore but much better. I don't need to start using it for another couple of months so it should be prefect by the time I start dialysis......Much Love and Thanks, Cindy.
