Just an update.

So, remember when I said my fistula infiltrated? Well, they started using two needles again today! The Venus hurt so bad, it hurt more than the arterial (sorry I can't spell), and it's usually the other way around. The Venus felt like it was on the wall or something, or it was going to infiltrate. So I kept my arm as still as possible for most of the time. But towards the end, my arm hurt too much, so I had to move it. But otherwise it went perfect! I'm getting a fistulagram on Wednesday before dialysis. I can't wait for this catheter to be out! They put it like right in my armpit. 

I'm switching centers in November! They use numbing stuff there, so I'm excited. And I'm gonna have my own TV!!!  At the one I'm at now (it's a children's hospital) there are 4 chairs, one room. And two TVs that the 4 people in the chairs have to share. Oh man. I hate it. And we only get like 10 channels.

I have a question. Do you think some dialysis centers may not carry numbing cream/shots because they are underfunded? I think that may be the case at children's hospital in Wisconsin.

I just remembered something that made me mad. My mom was in the hospital and the nurse that was wheeling her out offered to donate a kidney to me! My own family won't offer, but yet a total stranger is offering. Something is wrong here. My aunt says she will, but she wants to get tested to see if she is a match for her kids first. If she matches her kids, she won't donate to me. No one will pay for her to get tested, right? Her kids don't have kidney disease. I think she's trying to say "sorry Brianna. But I don't want to donate a kidney to you." My friend who's 13 really wants to donate to me. I feel so much love for her. Even though she can't because she's a minor, I feel so touched that she seriously wants to. She begged her mom to let her. Her dad also offered, but he's in jail. I mean, why can't my family come foward and offer? If a total stranger can, you would think my aunt or uncle would.

I know what you mean about family.  Most of my family is gone except for my son.  I didn't even ask him.  He had his kids late in life, and he admitted he really wants to save his kidneys for them, if it ever becomes necessary.  Not long ago the lady who runs my travel group told me that she had specified that if she dies she wants me to get her kidney.  Gee, now I have a tough decision to make.  Do I kill her to get her kidney or is it more important to me to keep her alive so I can keep traveling?!?!?!?!?  Decisions, decisions!

hahah!! My second cousin in a signed the donor thingie and he said if he dies in a car accident or something he would give his kidney to me. He's 23 right now. I just met him for the first time in July at a family reunion. I understand some people are scared and want to save their kidney for their own kids. I really do. But I mean if a total stranger offered me one, at least one person in my family could! But kidney disease doesn't run in my family, so most likely my cousins won't need a kidney. My mom doesn't like "the excuse" that they won't donate because what if their kids need one. But whatever. I don't want to ask someone to donate, I want them to come foward and want to help me. My grandma said she would but she's too "old." At least for me since i'm a kid. And my aunt said she would, but she had cancer. Even my grandma's friends are offerering! But again they're too "old." I suppose though it's easy to say you would if you know you can't!

I think your second cousin would find that if he died in an accident or something and his organs were harvested there is probably little chance the kidney would go to you  - surely it would be to the best match at the top of the list - that may well be you, but I don't think you can just say "yeah I'll donate - but to my cousin only" !!! lol

Apparently directed donation after death is legal in the US, but not in the UK.
