I have always been told that after you have intercouse you should get up and pee to help wash the bacteria away from the area.  Well, I have to admit that I havent had relations with my husband since my nephrectomy because I am afraid of getting a bladder infection.  I know the bladder is still there and the bacteria can still make its way up there but how do you know you have an infection in your bladder?

I've had a transplant, but I was on dialysis for 2 years beforehand. I still urinated - so I had the normal burning sensation, but I also sometimes had pain in the area and a fever. Now I get frequent UTI's and the first symptom for me is fever and the same pain.
