Diabetes -  age 7

Neuropathy in legs age 10

Eye impairments and blindness in one eye began in 95, major one during visit to the Indy 500 race of that year
   -glaucoma and surgery for that
     -cataract surgery twice on same eye (2000 - 2002). another one growing in good eye
     - vitrectomy in good eye post tx November 2003, totally blind for 4 months due to complications with meds and infection

Diagnosed with ESRD June 29, 1999
1st Dialysis - July 4, 1999
Last Dialysis - December 2, 2000

Kidney and Pancreas Transplant - December 3, 2000

Cataract Surgery on good eye - June 24, 2009
Knee Surgery 2010
2011/2012 in process of getting a guide dog
Guide Dog Training begins July 2, 2012 in NY
Guide Dog by end of July 2012
Next eye surgery late 2012 or 2013 if I feel like it
Home with Guide dog - July 27, 2012
Knee Surgery #2 - Oct 15, 2012
Eye Surgery - Nov 2012
Lifes Adventures -  Priceless

I didn't know that until I registered online.  I originally had just signed up through DMV.  Then at  a Phil Lesh concert (he had a liver transplant) there was a Donate Life table so I got their info, went home and signed up online.

Remember that you must also make sure your loved one's know your wishes. Aren't they the ones that make the last decision? Or am I mistaken?

I told my husband if there is anything left on this body that can help someone else, let the doctors take it! He said, "same for me!" So we know each other's wishes for when the time comes. Of course, I've let my other family members know too so there are no disputes about it if there were to be.

I kind of like the idea of "recycling" myself.

If after I die they do take my organ(s), I feel that in some creepy sense I'll still be "alive" and helping someone else to live. I don't know, just kind of how I feel about it. I mean, what the heck, I certainly won't need 'em when I'm dead.

Depends what state your in. Some states like mine if you register to be a donor, that's the final word and not the families. You must unregister if ou no longer want to donate. It started here either last year or this year. I use to have a list of states from newsletters I get.

Fresenius 2008T dialysis machine
My KDOQI Nutrition (+/ -):  2,450 Calories, 84 grams Protein/day.
