My hysterectomy is scheduled for the 18th. They are going to remove my ovaries and my fallopian tubes as well my abdominal nodes. I just want to say thanks for your prayers and support.

Hope it is being done vaginally. Even the standard method is not too bad. I loved mine, and felt great when it was over with. Good luck to you, I hope it all goes well.

Thank you Jean. I'm having an abdominal hysterectomy because I have a uterine mass.

Best of luck, Angel...
Hope you're feeling much better VERY soon!...
By the way... When my mum developed the urinary incontinence problem, she went to see a Urologist... He asked about previous operations... She told him of her hysterectomy... He groaned and said "Okay, I'm prepared to bet €50 that you had a Vaginal Hysterectomy!"... He was right, she did!...
He said he hates that method... He sees a huge number of women with incontinence that he firmly believes is caused by damage to muscles and nerves 'down there' during the op, and even religiously performing the Post-Op Pelvic Floor Excersises doesn't prevent the problem... He prefers the old method... Takes a bit longer to recover from, and leaves a scar, but he says that he just doesn't see anywhere near the numbers of women with urinary incontinence following the abdominal method... His own mum, aunts and wfe have all had an abdominal hysterectomy... Vaginal method doesn't cause problems for everyone, and the initial recovery is much quicker, but from the advice I've been given, when the time comes, I'm going to take the old fashioned method!...
I look forward to hearing about how well you're doing very soon....
May God bless and protect you...
Love...
Darth...

I went through this operation 17 years ago. They left in one ovary so I would still have normal cycles (I was 42). Everything went very well. And that is what I wish for you too.
Please know that your IHD family is with you all the way.

Candace, I had a total hysterectomy due to a mass the size of a soccor ball. They just took everything out and now, I will never worry about cancer of the cervix, ovaries, etc. Take it easy when you get home. I slept sitting up in a big chair because I was uncomfortable laying down. Take the pain pills they give you! And try to eat. You need protein to help heal (my daughter in law, the nurse kept telling me to eat protein and drink fluids!). You are always so kind to others on the forum. I hope you will feel our good wishes surrounding you on the 18th
Please post when you feel up to it so we how you are.

I agree, about the waiting. Once they tell me they need to do something, I want them to just do it ---now! A couple of more days and then you can start healing and recovering. Do you have someone to help when you come home? We know we will worry until we know you are ok.

Hi everyone. I was discharged yesterday. Thankfully, I don't have cancer. The surgery was rough. I had complications. Before surgery I could urinate. Now, I'm ofically a member of the no pee society. I don't know what happened. The dr. said I may have to use a cath. I'm confused, and in pain.I don't know what to do. But, I do know I'm grateful to be home. Thanks again for your prayers and support.

That doesn't sound too good but I'm hoping that it's early days and that you will be able to pee again soon. I'll celebrate the no cancer part but keep on praying for the rest to resolve itself.
