Irregular heartbeat

Does anyone who normally doesnt have any heart problems find their heart doing irregular beats ?  In the past i have had 2 ECG's which came back clear and now as you know my BP is on track , mostly coming in at a normal level. But i have noticed at no particular time ..whether busy or resting or in bed , my heart starts to do a rumba , it happens quite often during the day. I find if i do some slow deep breathing it will settle down again , i dont have any pain , just a really fast heartbeat . Has anyone else come across this ? Any explanation ?

Sharon had an episode of this and they said it was Atrial fibrillation, it is under control now with Carvidilol, she had just had her Kidney removed a week before and had a bad fluid overload in her lungs (used a needle procedure that removed about 2 litres fro,m her lungs), heart beat was ok after that. I would definitely let your medical team know about it........

Thanks but i dont think its anything like that as the renal unit havent found anything wrong when i had my ECG's and it deffo not fluid overload ( been there before and this is nothing like )

Heart arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) can be a symptom of both high or low potassium levels.

  More that likely high potassium then ! Thanks for that ..you get more info here than from the renal unit !

I had atrial fibrillation (how do you spell it) fixed with a procedure a couple of years ago and all was OK until I started on dialysis.  It came back after 3 days of dialysis and they couldn't repair it with the shock again.  Now it is being controlled with rhythmol and coumaden (and I can't spell those either).  Also, the dialysis unit checks my heart and says there is no fibrillation.  Apparently they've not been trained to diagnose it.

The heart thing is also a symptom of menopause.  I don't know how old you are though, and I think you mentioned in another thread it wasn't?  Just a thought.

Yep....high potassium.  Every time my potassium goes even slightly over the norm, my heart takes exception and almost jumps out of my chest.  When I take my blood pressure my heart it is normally the usual, which is still too high, but my heart rate is around 150.  I get onto my machine and after taking off the potassium, it all goes back to normal again.  It is a warning sign so try an get the potassium off ASAP after the first signs of an irregular heartbeat.  You can also get some of the disgusting stuff they give you at he hospital to drink to keep on hand if you do feel your potassium is up.  Weak legs is a sign that it is really high.  My potassium goes up to 12 if I so much as smell a banana.  I am really sensitive.  Some of us more so than others. xx
