I am 37 yrs old and recently been experiencing extreme hot flashes and cold chills.  The cold chills get so bad nothing can warm me up.  The night sweats have gotten so bad that my shirt is drenched when i wake up.  My nurse pract suggested I go see my ob/gyn which I just did less than 3 mos ago for a pap smear and everything was normal.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this and how i can prevent???

Hi,

I know I will probably sound very, very dumb here -
but could you possibly be expereiencing early menopause
symtoms?   I have had some friends (not D. patients) who
had this happen at an early age - mind you, just a thought

Anne that's exactly what I thought when I read this.  I believe a blood test could confirm it for you Katey.

I agree with the OB/GYN suggestion.  I'd also ask your doc about any medication side effects.  Night sweats could be due to that .

I've had menopausal hot flashes for about 8 years.

Night sweats can also be related to blood sugar issues and diabetes.

I have not been on site in quite awhile but i have since learned (and had procedure) that my transplanted kidney (that had recently rejected) was making me sick as it had been infected.  They did a nephrectomy and now i am fine!! (well except for this dialysis thing :yahoo;
