Hello All,

I don't know if it's because I just turned 40 or maybe it's the dialysis. My lips (mainly top lip) is so dry and flaky.  :waiting; What the heck is going on here?? I am also getting these little itchy dry patches of skin. My eye lid is itchy and dry and one side of my face has some sort of weird dry patch/mark.
What's the deal? Is this a side effect of dialysis or am I just getting old?? Make it stop!!!   :o

My Nephrologist recommends a yearly visit to the Dermotologist.  Get an appointment and make sure you have a referral if that is required.  They will give you something for it.

The survey I just did for the social worker had a list of questions about which symptoms were bothering me - and dry, flaky, itchy skin was one on the list.   Invest in some good face cream, and get something with SPF to use every day.  If your insurance covers the dermo doc, I'd do that, too.  I doubt it's just age - although I suppose it doesn't help!

Dry skin is very common , use a good moisture cream all over to help with this ..also itchy skin and red near eyes is a sign of high phosphate , so it might be worth checking out your levels.

At last check my phos. was 5.6  a little on the high side but not out of control.

My dermatologist told me that I could have an allergy to cinnamon and or vanilla. I had been eating these really strong cinnamon mints lately. He said to stop the mints and change my toothpaste....as it could be too strong for me also. And he gave me some cream to clear up the itchy red parts.  :cheer:
