It all makes sence now.....I had put in a request to move to another Davita unit and they kept putting me and putting me off. I have private insurence....no wonder they didn't want to let me go.

cha----------ching...... centers get selfish over that stuff
what that center brings in for revenue is how they base their budget on a center level not company wide

I was rereading this thread and I wondered why did I ask if people eat emus?
Twirl the first message was edited in January - maybe it said something about emus before it was edited? Or maybe you are just going mad

I am at a Fresenius facility and the caregivers are exceptional, the facility is clean and we DO have TVs with a computer that also has games. We have the old chairs, but there's been talk of new chairs among the caregivers. I haven't asked about them because I haven't wanted to get my hopes up. I'm sure that the chairs, at one time were excellent and comfortable; and I'm sure that they have served their purpose well. But I am looking forward to any change in the center for the better. I just thank God that I have been blessed with care at all, and that the care that I'm given is the best.

If you're not dialysing every day, you are not receiving the best care. 4x3 is killing you, and the rest of the people in the unit.

Wallyz I know you didn't mean that like it sounded...........
Many of us cannot do home hemo or nocturnal for whatever reason....so we attempt to feel good in center and if it's a clean, updated, friendly center that makes us happy, thank you God. Please don't tell us we are killing ourselves by going there
I really like to think that if I feel good enough to do some of the things each day that I enjoy doing I'm doing alright. Today I potted several plants until I ran out of dirt so have to get more and soon I will have my plants all taken care of and can start another project that may take awhile due to this kidney game. Sorry but that post just hit me wrong.

It is all according to how you are feeling while on dialysis. I managed to do ten years at 3 days a week for 4 hours. But when I began to feel I was going downhill I made the change to nocturnal. I would have changed something else if I could not have made the move to longer time. It is all in how YOU handle your treatments and your protocols.

G-ma, I understand what you are saying, but I don't want you to feel like you are getting the best treatment you can by doing 3x4. Ask for a fourth day. Push for nocturnal. Try to get home. The mortality rate for people doing daily home hemo is 50% lower than people in center.

I thought that I had replied to this post. But checking to see, I suppose that I didn't. I just wanted to say that I am at a Fresenius center and the caregivers are really nice there are TVs with an internet connection and games, which are (For me) a real lifesaver at the end of a 5 hr. run. I've only been to this one center for care and have been thinking that I had it bad, but after hearing some of the horror stories, I thank God for the clinic that I have and hope that it keeps me alive long enough for me to start enjoying it.
