KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas couple has been waiting six years to take the vacation of their dreams.
With the help of new technology, Harold and Doreen Denton will be able to take that trip.
Harold lost both his kidneys to hypertension. After several years of exhaustive dialysis treatment, he can now get treatment right in his own home.
"This opens up a whole new door for people who want to live a whole new life and just prosper," says Harold.
It's because a new dialysis machine he is getting at DSI isn't available in his hometown of Fort Scott, Kan.
Harold will no longer have to go to a dialysis center three times a week, five hours a day. It was a process that left Harold exhausted and depressed. Now Harold can take the machine anywhere.
For the past three weeks, Harold and his wife Doreen have been learning to use a mobile dialysis machine called Nx Stage.
“Not long after we get set up and we do our training, we want to renew our vows," says Harold.
The couple will head to Hawaii in May for the honeymoon they always wanted.
