Hello Everyone,
My name is Betty and I have had CKF for years. Last year my Nepthrologist told me that I my GFR was 16 and I was looking at dialysis or a transplant SOON. I have twin granddaughters 22/yO and a son that is a match and willing to give me a kidney. Well, my lab results changed and every month the GFR was getting higher and higher to a 24 and I was feeling fine.
Then 2 months ago it dropped to 16 and I feel nauseous and short of breath some of the time.
I will be going on PD pretty soon. The catheter will be put in on March 11.
I am glad that I found this group so that I can learn something about what is in store for me.

Betty. So glad you found us and yes, there is a lot to learn and we are a great source for your information and support. We love people that get tested to be donors. Please post often and keep us updated on the transplant process.

Betty.
If possable get the transplant before starting dialysis. But if your neph thinks it is time and you feel it is time be as ready as you can be.
I see my neph today. And i may also be getting my PD line in the near future. Or he may say see you in a couple months
..
Glad you found us and hope to see you on many of the threads.

Glad you are here! I was speed reading your post and had to go back and reread?
You said your GFR was 16 and I though you had said you were 16 years old. I was thinking that poor girl. Her kidney disease has been really rough on her! This is a friendly place so enjoy your time spent here!

Betty,
Sorry that you have CKF, but great news that your son is a match and wants to donate a kidney! Great kid!
I am also new to the group with one teen daughter currently on dialysis and another with CKD, moving toward dialysis in the next year. Lots of great info and support here. Good luck to you.

Welcome to our community, Betty! It is great that you found us at this time. IHD is tremendous when it comes to helping you prepare for dialysis. That was my personal experience, and when I joined there wasn't even the tons of information that there is now (the site was only a month old), but the caring people I met here helped me through those first scary days. You have found a genuine family here
All you need to do is keep reading and keep posting. Let us know how it is going. The people here will be with you through whatever experiences you do through, all the way.
Looking forward to hearing more from you,
