in  the  photo  the  placard  said 56TH  innauguration,how  does  56  go  into  44  presidents

  iknow  its  something  simple  i  can't  be  buggered  googling.

Like George W. Bush had 2 terms but he was counted once.  So he had two inaugural balls.

Some presidents had two terms, so 56 inaugurations, but only 44 presidents.  I had the same question!
