I'd have sworn we were, but when I tried to get rid of my double post I couldn't find it.   ???

YES at one point you were able to but it is a major security risk, say for example someone guesses your password they could go in and delete all of your posts. If you wish to have a double post deleted simply send a PM to one of the mods with a link to the double post and they will delete it for you.  :)
