AV Fistula, Right Arm, October 04, 2007

« on: March 17, 2008, 10:25:36 AM »

Just got the news.  The AV Fistula in my arm is "Wimpy" to use the Dr.'s exact word.  My veins are tiny :oops;.  Now they are going to map my legs.  Where do they put the AV Fistula in the leg, anyone know?   They are not planning to take out the arm one, I am going to be a body full of tubes. :rant;  Mel

The fistulas I have seen in the leg area are located in the upper thigh.  I know a lady who wore sweatpants with shorts underneath when she would come to treatment.

Sorry to hear, I know you must be disapointed.  I am not too familiar with a leg graft.  Did see some in center in the thigh region.  I wish you a quick and pain free surgery.  :big hug:

Here's a related thread:

Does anyone have a fistula or graft in their leg? http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=6733.0

I hope they do a good job of mapping and can create a successful access for you. Good luck!

Have you had another opinion?  Have they thought about doing grafts/natural vein grafts yet?  Before you committ, get lots of opnions.  Talk to some of the patients at your dialysis center and see where they have gone for vascular surgery.

Also check out:  http://www.americanaccesscare.com/index.html.  Bolta72 informed me about this place, they have many locations.

Good Luck!
