I wish there was a smiley all bundled in a blanket.
I am cold all the time does anyone else have this problem. Before I started PD I was hot but now I am cold!!

I was always hot now I am also cold
most of the patients with me use many, many blankets :snowman;
there is a site for people getting cold on dialysis and special clothing is made
special zippers and all

Hey twirl, if you check through the postings you will find a bunch of information about being cold. Use the search engine at the top below your login and type in cold. This web site has more active members and topics then any other related site. Trust me I know. Just peak around the forum and the older post and if you don't see what your looking for, ask away, you'll get losts of answers.

twirl ....this is a very active site , but its not really a 'chat' site. I am sure when you have been around a while longer people will pm you and chat also where are you from ? we are from all over the world , so we all log in  at different times  :thumbup;

 hi mel
 i'm just the opposite . I'm freezzing nowand i haven't started dialysis yet !!!  Cold all the time !!!  Wish i could get warm, too !!! I'm  Anemic , are you ??? Could that have something to do with the COLDNESS !!!!  Just have to move to FLA. i guess !!!!

Since I started PD I have to get in bed with my socks on and use the winter duvet because it takes awhile for my feet to get warm. Then, if I havn't got to sleep within an hour, my feet and legs get too hot. So hot that I then have to get up and put the summer duvet on the bed. I am usually warm enough then until I get up the next morning.

My Marvin is always, always, always COLD !  He stays bundled up all the time!  When he had his transplant, he got hot all the time, but not anymore!

being  cold  is  due  to  two  factors i  believe.

1.  poor  circulation

2. anaemia.

i  have  poor  circulation  in  my  fistula  arm,  more  so  on  dialysis,  in  the  hand.

I've always been very cold natured, but it was just crazy when I was doing PD. My husband is hot natured, so likes to sleep with the fan on in the bedroom. In July in Georgia, I was sleeping in winter pajamas with a quilt and an afghan over me! Most dialysis patients are anemic, so that may have something to do with it...are you taking Epogen or Arensp (sp?)?

Also, be sure you're warming up your bags of fluid before you use them. Your clinic should have provided you with a heating pad to store a couple on. When I did PD back in 1981, they didn't know about warming them up, and my brother remembers me complaining about how cold the fluid was (and we were 7 and 9). Don't get your bags hot, but just slightly warm when using the inside of your wrist to check the temp.

Thanks for bringing this up!  I find myself feeling cold all the time.  In my most recent blood test, it came up anemic so I guess that's why!

I can finally put two and two together and come up with 2+2 = Cold!

You are so NOT alone Mel...on top of the persistent anemia, I lost about 60 lbs. during the surgeries to remove my kidneys...that was just pure insulation that I don't have anymore, so I do dialysis in sweat pants and sweatshirt, with an electric heater on and under a blanket...the good news is, it's so warm in the family room that my wife is often just in a tank top and shorts!  >:D

I was pretty much born with a cold gene.  When I was doing hemo that place was so cold I always brought a fleece blanket with me.  During my PD time I didn't notice any difference in my usual I'm cold which I am when I'm in a room under 72 degrees, or outside for that matter.   

So, are we running hot or cold today?
